Tropical Island Christmas

We’ve had a wonderful Christmas this year. I’m so glad we were together. We went to a Christmas laser light show at a botanical garden. B’s been working on a corral reef project at school, so we took him to a ride a glass-bottomed boat. He was able to see the reef & all its inhabitants. There was a couple of Christmas parties to attend. Mainly we did alot of shopping & eating. Now I’m ready to get home & sleep in my own bed.

Being Sneaky!

When I picked up B from school, my friend said “I don’t know why you are still here”. The kids have a substitute for the substitute, so they are not learning anything; get on that plane. I thought so why not? I’ll surprise J days early. After sitting at the air terminal almost all day watching flights leave & get cancelled, we finally got our break. J called right before we get on the plane. I answered a quick question & told him we had a football game to go to & dinner to make so I call him back. The plane was going to the wrong base. Oh well, at least we get to Okinawa. We landed & quickly got in a very expensive taxi to J’s barracks. Being exhausted from dragging our suitcase up four flights of stairs, I give the door my most manly Marine knock. He opens the door & says, “Holy S@!t” and gives me some kind of excuse that he wasn’t expecting company. He seemed worried that his skivvy shirt & shorts weren’t appropriate. It was like he would have dressed better if he knew we were coming. This is when I know we have been apart to long. He was very surprised & talked the whole night.

Santa Arrived Early

We woke up to find that Santa had came. He left a note stating that he knew how important it was for B to be with his Dad for Christmas, so he left his presents early. I’m sure he realized that there was no way for us to carry a electric scooter & other toys on a SpaceA airplane. We shared all the excitement with Dad via webcam. We had a fun-filled day playing with all B’s new stuff.

Past Time For A Change

The new look was way over due. I’ve just been kinda lazy with changing the theme. The Japanese theme is more fitting than the butterflies. Hopefully this will renew my interest in blogging more often. I also fixed the double posting. Boy was that annoying.

We had a nice Thanksgiving with families from J’s unit. There was tons of food & games. I was able to bring home a assortment of leftovers. I’m all about not cooking since I got back from my surgery. I’m working on getting up my Christmas decorations and sending out those cards.

I was just not ready to come home. We were having so much fun & our base is just so boring. I agree with B that living in Tokyo would be cool. Maybe I can talk J into switching to the Navy instead of re-enlisting. The Navy provides so much better for their families. I guess I’m just getting tired of hearing that my 6 month MEU isn’t the same as a 6 month IA assignment. He’s still gone & we still have the same emotional baggage to deal with. Our base just doesn’t care about their deployed families.
