Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Posted by Vicci on Apr 19, 2008 in My Little Man, Sports

Today was opening ceremonies and the first game of the season. There is just something about coach pitch; well, basically the coach needs to know how to pitch. The pitcher makes or breaks the game. It’s hard pitching to someone who is so much smaller than you are. Our coach was right on every time. (It helps that he is not a very tall man.) The other team just couldn’t keep up. B’s team ran circles around the other team while they had very few hits.

After several years of playing, you’d think that B would have baseball down. He’s started some crazy stuff this year, like throwing the ball without looking. He tries to throw it so hard that his whole body turns and he doesn’t watch where the ball is going. It ends up no where near his attended target. We’ve got to really get him to stop that one. He played catcher the whole game so I really didn’t have to worry about that one too much. It’s hard to move around in all that equipment, he proved that during the game.

It looks like he’s on a really good team this year.

Basketball Starts

Opening ceremonies and B’s first game was today. I was going to write this post about how well he played, but I didn’t get to see it. This year youth sports were a little behind since they had to squeeze out some coaches. The snacks were forgotten to be scheduled, so I had to run to the store. So I missed most of the game.

First Football Game

Although, it was absolutely freezing outside, you wouldn’t have been able to tell by they way B was acting. The excitement of football had set in. The biggest deterrent for him and playing sport is how many times does he get the ball. He didn’t have to worry about it, since got to hike the ball every time. He got to play most of the game. He is so excited, I think he slept in his uniform because he has another game today. Well, he at least wore it to school today.

Couldn’t Be More Excited.

B’s face is just beaming when out on the field playing football; but maybe J’s beaming a little bit brighter. He quickly jumped into a picture I was taking of B. It was just funny, considering they resisted being in pics together all weekend. This is B’s first year of football. He is playing flag football; since the base doesn’t have a hospital to treat them if any were to get hurt. We are finally on a team with B’s favorite jersey; blue. The team is the (NY) Giants. There are only three teams; that makes for a very short season. It’s only a month. Not to many girls want to play football. There is four girls on the team though. Our first game is on Monday. I really want to video, but it will be to dark at five thirty. :(

Open Season

Posted by Vicci on Apr 15, 2007 in My Little Man, Sports

Baseball season started today. B is on the Mets. They have these wonderful seasoning opening celebrations here. They introduce all the teams & coaches. The Iwakuni Tyco Drummers put on a wonderful show for us. Its nice how Marine Corps just submerges us in the Japanese culture. Today was also B’s first game. Boy was I proud, besides the chewing on everything & the picking of the nose that was going on in the out field. B hit the ball the 1st time it was pitched both times he was up to bat. Our day of practice paid off. Last year he hardly hit anything; mainly because the coach couldn’t pitch a ball that was hittable. The coach this year must have been practicing because he is an awesome pitcher. Now we just have to work on outfield paying attention. I hope the rest of the games go this good.
