Good Times
I saw a add to test my favorite game Animal Crossing City Folk along with Wii Speak. So I answered it. I signed some conditions & they would let me know if I won. Within 24 hours, I was being asked where to send copy 1 of the game/Wii speak, copy 2 of the game/Wii speak, & the Wii console. I was like what it includes a console? I had to clarify. Yup, it was right. I was just in awe. Now to decide what to do with all of it. I already have a Wii, so I don’t need another one. I figured my friend & her 2 kids (who’s husband is in Iraq) who live in the states would best put it to use. I’m glad I could brighten up their Christmas. We’ve really enjoyed playing online with each other. Wii Speak works really well. Much cheaper than a phone call. Now I have to write up my opinion & send in pictures. I’ll let ya’ll know when it gets published.

B & I had our dr appts today. He got off his cast, but still has to be careful for a month. His skin was so badly dry. Iwakuni didn’t put on enough padding under the cast. So he is getting lotion therapy.
I got my stitches out & soft cast off, but I have to wear a brace for 5 weeks. I was ordered not to do the dishes. Yippee!! I can’t submerge my hand for a few weeks. Guess I can hire a maid. Who else is going to get the cleaning done if I cant. Actually, my had feels really good; weak but good. I get to come back in January to do the right one.
Since we are both cast-less, we decided to celebrate. We hit A&W for dinner, then we went to see Smash Mouth in concert. It was so cool to see them live. It was B’s first rock concert. He even recognized the songs. Of course, who wouldn’t notice the Shrek song. We had a lot of fun.

We wandered the various stores down Blue Street; named for the blue tiles that are on the sidewalk. We came across a TGI Fridays, so we couldn’t resist having lunch. Then we hit up the rest of the stores. I found the cutest Christmas cards with the Kintai Bridge & jolly santas running all over on them. Wonder why we don’t have these is Iwakuni. I picked up a bunch to send out for xmas. We moved on to Mikasa Park. They have a Japanese battleship that we toured. It was used to fight the Russains in 1904. The US Navy helped Japan restore it to its present glory for tourist to enjoy. The park definitely water themed. It is on the Bay of Tokyo, has water fountain & waterfalls everywhere, & even a water show that is timed to music. I just loved sitting there relaxing & listening to the water.

It seems weird to go to an American restaurant. We stopped in the Macaroni Grill on base. The place was huge; nothing like the little hole in the wall Japanese places. The menu was in English with US prices listed. No deciphering required. The waitress kept coming back to check on us. We didn’t have to get up to pay the bill. The food was awesome. There were free drink refills and the amount of food we were given was way too much. We all took half of it back to our room. Cool, two meals out of it! We are just not use to that much food anymore. It’s just been so long since we gone to an American restaurant that was truly American and not the Japanese version of the American restaurant.

B & I went to make pottery from scratch. It was so much fun. We checked out the sale room for ideas in order to make our own creations. B decided on a tall blue coffee cup. He got pretty close for never doing anything like this before. He got the same swirly design on it. I was impressed in his eye for detail. With some of his left over clay, he ended up with to dinosaur looking creatures (they’re not supposed to be dinos), a airplane, and a very small tree.
After starting my project, it took me a minute to think about what kind of pottery I needed at home. I could always use a candy dish. The rest of my clay ended up being a tortoise for my flower pot garden.
We didn’t get to glaze them. They will do that for us, which should come out way better then what we probably would have done. In a few weeks, we’ll get them back. I just can’t wait to see how they turn out.
Afterwords, we toured a Japanese sweet factory. We got to see how they make their traditional sweets or wa-gashi. Common ingredients are rice flour, azuki (red beans), and sugar. It takes a while to get use to the taste. I didn’t bring any home.
