My Home for Christmas

Posted by Vicci on Dec 18, 2009 in Uncategorized

It’s nice being in my house for Christmas. Typically we travel to Texas when we were not in Japan. With B getting older, its just to hard to hide Santa’s gifts in the trunk. It won’t be much longer & he’ll out grow Santa. I really enjoyed doing alot of baking & cooking when we were in Japan. Something I didn’t do when visiting Texas. This year I’m not doing as much baking as I wanted too. I had this whole plan laid out too. Being the new recruiting person & settling into a new area has just kept us very very busy. I just started to have some free time this week with a little help from my Mom & a kid that raked the yard. I never thought I was going to get all my projects done (almost all). It should be a nice relaxing Christmas. We are have family visit, starting today till just after New Years.

Christmas Light Show

Posted by Vicci on Dec 16, 2009 in Uncategorized

This year we decided to up grade a simple pre programmed light show device to a 16 channel computerized Light-O-Roma show. Since we didn’t have to many lights (really small place in Japan). It took some time to set it up for our huge house. All the lights on the house I happened to have. I bought 5 spiral trees & set of presents. We made 6 mini trees with tomato cages. I ended up buying 25 (+) extension cords in order to set every thing up separately. I did all the computer programing for the show. I even added some intros telling about the show. The show has 15 songs. The FM transmitter works good with our big front yard. We choose 107.9 FM for the station. Overall, it turned out pretty good for our 1st show. Since people here don’t decorate AT ALL; our lights are awesome. I really wanted to add more lights but I would have to buy more cords. I can’t wait to see what we come up with next year. We are thinking about putting a Halloween show together too. Flickr & facebook has a few videos of the show.

Show runs 6-10 Sun-Thurs 6-11 Fri-Sat.

Can’t Decide

Posted by Vicci on Dec 12, 2009 in Uncategorized

I keep going back and forth on whether to get rid of this website or not. I barely use it anymore. I would like to keep my email address. There is pros and cons. Also there are so many free blog sites now. We just started a new computerized Christmas light show, so I thought about writing about our adventures in that on here too. I have to March; I think, to decide.

I been quite busy since we gotten back to the US. We took a two week road trip from Seattle to San Diego then to Amarillo. (Check Flickr for pics.) We stopped & saw lots of interesting sites along the way. Now we are just visiting family until its time to move to Decatur, Alabama. After researching our new home; I’m kinda excited. There is a Army base there, which will be great (We’ll save lots of money). It seems like a good area to live in. I’m waiting for actual orders before I’ll take off. Hopefully that will be soon. I’m ready to be in my own house with my things. Living out of a suitcase has really gotten old.
